Unit 11: Gases

Objectives:

  1. I know how a gas differs from a solid and liquid.

  2. I know how the kinetic molecular theory describes gas particles.

  3. I know the four parameters used to describe gas samples, their symbols, and their units (P, T, V, n).

  4. I know the four simple gas laws (Boyle’s, Charles’, Gay-Lussac’s, and Avogadro’s) and can describe what they state and can calculate gas law problems that require them.

  5. I know how to solve gas law problems with two parameter changes (either though consecutive gas law applications or with the combined gas law).

  6. I know the Ideal Gas law and can calculate gas law problems with it.

  7. I know that gas laws only work if the temperature is stated in Kelvin. I can convert degree Celsius to Kelvin and back.
