Unit 5: Electronic Structure

Objectives:

  1. I know what electromagnetic radiation is and I can describe light with the terms wavelength, frequency, and energy.

  2. I know the different types of electromagnetic radiation in the spectrum.

  3. I know how electrons can produce light and can explain this process with the Bohr atomic model.

  4. I know the orbital organization of the quantum mechanical model.

  5. I know how electrons are organized within orbitals (Aufbau principle, Pauli’s exclusion principle, Hund’s rule)

  6. I know that the electron organization shapes the periodic table.

  7. I know what Coulombic forces are and what factors can change them.

  8. I know that the electron organization determines the behavior of elements.
