Unit 2: Measurements & Calculations

Objectives:

  1. I know the names and the purpose of common lab equipment.

  2. I know how to read an analog measuring device with the correct number of significant figures.

  3. I know that scientist always do three calculations at once:

—> they calculate the meaning using units,

—> they calculate the value using numbers,

—> and they calculate the quality using significant figures.

  4. I know how to set up a dimensional analysis calculation that include:

    —> unit conversions,

—> relationships such as density, LD50, and concentration,

    —> and percent.

  5. I know how to use density to identify substances.
