Chemical Reactions & Enzymes
This week will be dedicated to connecting biomolecules and enzymes while reviewing essential topics to ensure that we are all ready for the next two weeks.
BY THE END OF THIS WEEK, you should be able to:
define all terms from the previous 5 weeks,
identify the role that enzymes have in our everyday lives,
differentiate between endergonic and exergonic reactions,
describe how active sites, substrates, and enzymes are all interconnected, and
feel comfortable with moving along to our next major topic. This essentially means that you should ask yourself "am I confident in all the material that I’ve learned this semester (including scientific method, significant figures, microscopy, chemistry of life, and properties of water)?
Week 6 - Biology
Your Week Ahead
Day 1: Biological Macromolecules
I’m sadly not feeling well today so I will check the following things during your next class
Journal 3
Properties of Water Lab
Week 3 Measuring Lab
You’ll spend time today watching some of my content videos on the four biological macromolecules and take notes on the packet that I’ve printed out for you.
Note, you have no journal for this week.
After class, you should be studying for your test on Day 3! Also, finish taking notes on the four videos if you didn’t already. You’ll have a little bit of time next class if you don’t but I won’t check these notes until next Monday.
Day 2: Test Prep & Gizmos on Chemical Reactions & Enzymes
We will do a quick review for your test, then you will use the rest of class time to work on your case study on enzymes.
AFTER CLASS, study!
Day 3: Test!
You will use this class time to take your test, then any extra time will be towards working on finishing your Gizmos (if you didn’t do that in the previous class).
IMPORTANT DATES
Test 1 on Day 3 covering scientific method, microscopy, and significant figures!
Did you…?
… finish your notes on the 6 content videos (Videos 1-4 on biological macromolecules and video 5: chemical reactions & video 6: enzymes)?
… finish your Gizmos case study?
… review your terms to know and answer the big idea for this week?
