Week 31 - Biology
Climate Change
This week will be dedicated to introducing the concept of climate change before we get into the data. We’ll also begin preparing for your quizzes this month.
BY THE END OF THIS WEEK, you should be able to:
define all terms from the previous weeks,
know the mechanisms of evolution,
identify the driving forces that contribute to global climate change,
begin to discuss how humans influence these systems, and
discuss why populations of organisms aren’t able to evolve at a rate to outpace climate change’s effects.
Your Week Ahead
Day 1: Week Prep
I’ll start with grading your evolution activity from previous week, we’ll then pass out all of your diversity of life packets, discuss the common items missed as a grade, then remind everyone of the process with taking these quizzes. Remember that your first day to take one is next class!
We’ll then pass out your last test and discuss those as a group.
Lastly, we’ll begin to discuss the basics of climate change before we get into the larger datasets next week.
AFTER CLASS, Study for your quizzes and make a plan for when you are taking them!
Also after class, complete your next journal, journal 12. I’ll check this next Monday. I’ll also be checking the notes on the documentary, Racing Extinction.
Day 2: Before the Flood
I’ll be at a conference while you’re in class. This will be your first day to take a quiz. After that, you’ll all watch another documentary, Before the Flood, to set up climate change. We’ll finish this next week.
Don’t forget about your journal and notes on Racing Extinction!
Quizzes will start this Thursday/Friday! You haven until Friday, May 1st to have all of these completed.
