An Introduction into Photosynthesis

We’ll have two days this week to finish our microscopy lab from last week and begin a discussion into the process of photosynthesis.

BY THE END OF THIS WEEK, you should be able to:

  • define all terms from the previous 10 weeks,

  • describe the inputs & outputs of photosynthesis,

  • compare the light-dependent and light-independent reactions,

  • describe the four dominant pigments used by plants, algae, and protists to convert light energy into chemical energy,

  • discuss the processes of photosystems II & photosystems I, and

  • walk through the process of photosynthesis in general.

Week 11 - Biology

Your Week Ahead

Day 1: Finish Microscopy

  1. We will all complete the bacteria slides together, then you will have time to work on the remaining ones if you’re behind.

  2. AFTER CLASS, study for your test next class!

Day 2: Test

  1. Today’s day is dedicated to your test.

  2. If you have time remaining, use it to finish any leftover microscopy slides.

Day 3: Photosynthesis Intro

  1. We will fill out a table describing the parts of photosynthesis then if time, jump into a Gizmos describing the process.

  2. AFTER CLASS, study for your next quiz on chemical reactions, enzymes, and cell history.

IMPORTANT DATES

Test 2 this Tuesday/Wednesday covering chemistry of life, properties of water, and biological macromolecules.

Quiz 4 covering chemical reactions, enzymes, and cell history next week on Day 1!

Quiz 5 covering cell structure and transport on next week’s Day 1.

Did you…?

  • … complete your microscope lab for me to grade next week?

  • … finish your week 11 content/gizmos?

  • … review for your quiz at the beginning of next week?
